Saudiaat had the pleasure of attending a highly relevant panel discussion titled “Saudization: The Strategies & Accomplishments that Have Shaped up the Saudi Youth” that was organized and held by The Saudi Event Show, on September 11th,2024.

The discussion explored the role of Saudization in empowering young Saudis within the kingdom’s growing events industry, and it was led by Dr. Eihab Abourokbah, CEO of the Saudi Entertainment Academy, featured Alaa Al-Khairalla ,Head of THA Staffing, Mshary al-Khayyat Chief of Advisory Committee, SECA, Yousef AlBitar ,Event Project Manager, Quintessentially, and Dr. Zohair Al-Sarraj ,Chairman, SECA.

A Growing Sector

The events industry in Saudi Arabia is experiencing rapid growth, driven by Vision 2030’s economic diversification goals. 

The panelists emphasized the importance of collaboration between the private and public sectors to ensure the industry’s sustainable growth.

Training and development programs are also crucial for equipping young Saudis with the necessary skills to succeed in this field.

Technology, such as online platforms and VR training, can play a significant role in enhancing skill development.

The Role of Saudization

Saudization, is the Saudi government’s initiative to increase the employment of Saudi nationals, which is playing a vital role in shaping the events industry and many other sectors in Saudi Arabia. 

By prioritizing the recruitment and development of Saudi talent, the government aims to create a sustainable and locally driven sector.

Collaboration is Key

Mr. Mshary al-Khayyat highlighted the government’s support for the events industry through initiatives like financial subsidies and incentives for companies that invest in Saudi talent.

The panelists collectively stressed the importance of collaboration between private and public sectors, with Alaa Al-Khairalla suggesting that private companies can work with government entities to identify skill gaps and develop targeted training programs.

Opportunities for Young Saudis

On the other hand, Yousef AlBitar emphasized the vast opportunities available for Saudi youth, when he commented on the opportunities for Saudi youth in the events industry saying: “There is no excuse. Saudi Arabia has a population of 32 million people, And I believe that there are a lot of really talented people.”

Dr. Zohair Al-Sarraj acknowledged the need for certified training programs to bridge the gap between current skill levels and international standards, where he said:

"We need more is to attract or to fund or to create initiatives that will help the people to be involved in professional programs, or certified programs."
