Production Manager

Our client, a well-established holding company in the steel industry, operates several subsidiaries across Africa specializing in manufacturing, processing, and distribution is looking to hire a Production Manager.
This role will lead and oversee the entire steel production process covering Meltshop, Refining, and Rolling Mill operations. 

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute monthly/weekly production targets.
• Monitor furnace/mill yields, downtime, and process KPIs.
• Optimize processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Control production costs (power, consumables, refractories, etc.).
• Lead and develop production teams across shifts (~200 staff).
• Ensure strict adherence to safety and SOP compliance.
• Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, and Logistics for smooth operations.
• Report performance, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions.

• Furnace & rolling yield %
• Power consumption (kWh/ton)
• Production volume (billets & rebars)
• Equipment uptime
• Safety compliance & staff productivity

Requirements

• Education: BE/B.Tech in Metallurgy, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (MBA/PG in Operations preferred).
• Experience: Minimum 15 years in steel plants (≥300,000 MTPA), with strong background in induction furnace & rolling mill operations.
• Skills: Leadership, production planning, KPI monitoring, problem-solving, ERP/SAP usage, strong communication.

• Plant-based role, requires shift coordination.
• Mandatory PPE compliance.
